Encompass Health Mission Trip 2019 – Haiti

Encompass Health Employees Haiti Mission Trip 2019 – A Call for Volunteers (Application Deadline has Passed – Chosen Applicants Announced by 10/31)

We are excitedly preparing for our 2nd Encompass Health mission trip to Haiti and are on the schedule to serve from April 6 – April 12 of 2019. We will once again be returning to Thomazeau, Haiti to work with LiveBeyond in their clinic, their school, and their food distribution center. (If you want to know more about LiveBeyond, please go to www.livebeyond.org.)

Dr. Michele Carr and Eric Dengler will be our team leaders for this trip and are both anxious to return to Thomazeau having learned the ropes while serving there last year. This year, we will be taking 40-45 team members, including approximately 20 to 25 nurses and therapists, 15-20 non-clinical support team members, and 5 physicians/physician assistants. Please note that both medical and non-medical employees are equally welcome and needed for this rewarding ministry experience! Please carefully consider your interest and check your calendars for availability to participate. If you are interested, available, relatively healthy, energetic, and have love to spare for your Haitian brothers and sisters, please complete an application no later than September 30, 2019. The Encompass Cares grant committee, along with our team leaders, Dr. Michele Carr and Eric Dengler, will review the applications and make final selections during the month of October. Applicants will be notified of the selections by the end of October so that supervisors can be made aware of scheduling needs.

The total cost of the trip will be approximately $1,700 per person which includes your airfare to Haiti and the LiveBeyond fees. However, Encompass Cares will pick up all but $400 of the cost. The remaining $400 will be the responsibility of the employee and need to be paid within 30 days of acceptance to the mission trip in order to hold your spot. In addition, remember that you will either need to use your PDO or your EIB mission time allocation to cover your time away from the office. Please refer to the Employee Handbook for additional details on using EIB for Mission Trips. In general, if you have worked for Encompass for 3 or more years then you can take a day per year worked up to a maximum of 5 days out of your EIB bank for mission trip purposes.

Thank you for considering joining us in this rewarding opportunity to exemplify the Encompass Health way by serving those in Haiti.
